The fault-indication units type WA-ST 16 E, (19"-board technology) and WA-ST 16 F (flush-type case 96 x 96) operate in combination with a PLC. They are designed for a total of 16 fault- or running indications while only 3 PLC-outputs are required. An extension of another 16 fault-indications by adding a second, third, fourth, etc. indication board will require only one additional PLC output for every board. The inications of the fault- or running conditions are done by 16 LED´s. These LED´s are mounted into the front panel in a distance of one typewriter-line to each others. The data transmission between PLC and WA-ST 16 takes place by a serial connection with a clock rate generated by the PLC, for example 100 Hz. In the PLC, the data to be signaled is interrogated by a shift register and is transferred to the fault-indication unit with a data block length of 16 bit. By the deployment of the fault-indication units, especially small PLC´s can be used more powerful because outputs will be saved and the wiring that would otherwise be necessary for the signal lamps will be reduced drastic. Software for a Kloeckner-Moeller control or a Siemens control is available and can be delivered together with the fault-indication unit, if wished. The units can be equipped with LED´s of different colors (also mixed), for example 8 x green + 8 x yellow. <br>
